I absolutely LOVE this Invicta Grand Diver Watch Model Number 3047.I am new to the Invicta Enthusiast Movement. This past Christmas I received my first Invicta Big Faced Watch from my son. It was a Stainless Steel Watch with Blue and Black face and bezel (Model Number 20478). I LOVED having a Big Faced Watch at that point and within the past 2 months, I have purchased 3 more Invicta Big Faced Watches and love each one. I now have a total of 4 Invicta watches and I will most likely be buying more. They are just such beautiful machines that I love wearing. This Stainless Steel Automatic Grand Diver Model 3047 with its Green Bezel and Black face is so stunning. The contrasting colors make reading the time on this watch a breeze. It is not cluttered with intrusive designs or dials and it is not too big at 47mm. With that being said, it is much larger than any Timex or Casio or Seiko that I have ever owned yet I have 2 more Invicta's that are actually larger at 50mm. This Model 3047 has a 47mm case. So it is a little bit smaller than my others. The magnifier on on the dial window is an addition that is much appreciated as you get older. The dial window is made of a durable Mineral Crystal. The hands and time indicator marks have a luminescence that actually does glow in the dark. Unlike many other watches that I've owned. The band bracelet was very easily sized with very inexpensive tools that you can obtain over the internet sites. I re-sized my watch band myself and I am not a jeweler or watch repair person. It came out perfect with no struggle at all.The Green color is not loud, vivid or trendy. It is quite classy and adds just a splash of color to subdue any boringness that become the norm with the run-of-the-mill ordinary silver add black watch that everyone has.The Stainless Steel watch case is has a partial satin finish and a partial polished mirror finish. The case has the really cool Divers Helmet molded into the stainless steel case at both the top and bottom. This signifies that it really is a genuine divers watch and is capable of withstanding dive depths of approximately 1000 feet. Although most of us will never dive to those depths and the rest of us will never dive at all, the dive depth rating signifies the durability of this watch. And we “all” want a product that is as durable and tough as possible. This watches bracelet is another work of art. The center links have a mirror polished finish and the outer links have a satin finish. Very Classy and contrasty. I Love It !The Green Bezel actually does rotate in one direction only. This is to monitor air supply for the real divers that use this watch for its actual intended purpose. There are videos and instructions all over the internet that explain how to use a watch bezel. Very easy.My VERY Favorite feature of this watch is that it incorporates the VERY RELIABLE and very accurate Japanese made Automatic Seiko Movement – The Seiko Movement Model Number is: NH35A – Yes this watch has the beautiful styling of Invicta and it also has the reliable Seiko Movement.....In case you didn't know, an Automatic Movement never needs a battery replacement because it does not operate on battery power. The motion and movement of your wrist is what winds this accurate watch up. You can also wind the watch by hand by turning the crown. So I guess you can consider it a hybrid ? I'm not sure, but that makes sense to me.Speaking of the incredible Seiko Automatic Movement, the watch manufacturer did not want to hide this special feature from you or your admirers, so engineered into the back of the watch is an Exhibition Back which actually has a window on the back of the case to view the decorated yellow pendulum swinging back and forth to wind your watch. Again, no boringness here. Lots to look at and admire about your new watch.Another very nice feature of this beautiful watch is that it has a screw down crown. This is one of the reasons it is rated to dive so deep. Because screwing down the crown stem actually seals things up more effectively than pressing it in.With this watch, you can actually stop the second hand so that you can adjust the time to the exact second. This Grand Divers watch with its black face and green bezel is not heavy at all. In fact, it wears so much more comfortably than any of my lightweight and small Timex watches. Yes it is much larger and much heavier than your normal sized watch, but the way the case and high quality bracelet was engineered makes for a very comfortable fit and the weight and size is actually un-noticable.I am NOT a large man. My wrist diameter is 7 inches to 7 and a half inches. So I have attached pictures of this watch and what it looks like on my 7 to 7.5 inch wrist. In my opinion, it fits and looks perfectly. The style these days is the Big Faced Watch. So this size is very attractive.Wear this Beautiful Watch with a pair of jeans or wear it with a Black Suit to a business Meeting or a Wedding. This is a stunning piece of j
This is a great looking watch and is a mash-up of the Rolex Submariner & Omega Seamaster.I call it the Sub($35)Master.For the less than $35 I got it for and even if it were $55 I give it 5 stars. It's insane how nice it looks, the fit & finish, & how solidly made this is for the price.Even the bracelet is solid and the clasp is well made with 4 micro adjustment holes.I have and love my Seiko watches but not even they can do this at the price, and Timex doesn't even come close.Seiko has folded bracelets at the lower price point but they do have good automatic movements.I purchased several of these Invictas to look at including the 8932OB with the Rolex Submariner type bezel and the 40mm automatics, but this is the one I like most. The 8932OB is the same size but just looks slightly too flat and small even my 6.75mm wrists. The Omega Seamaster styled bezel on this one has a little more material around the outer edge of the bezel and more marking in the black area, enough to make a visual difference so that it just looks big enough.BTW, this has a 38mm bezel and 37-37.5mm case.It is Not 39mm as written in the description. It looks small for a diver watch design, smaller than my Seiko SKX013 and it might be too small if you have 7in+ wrists. There are other small differences between this and the 8932OB.The case has a more defined bevel, the lugs are is very lightly differently shaped, the crystal is slighlty thicker with a more noticeable bevel, and the numbers and markings around the bezel are different and more like the Seamaster.I like the bezel on this one better, it's more substantial, looks classier and more refined, and doesn't reflect as many little points of light so it's less shiny/blingy.I do wish this were about 1mm wider and thicker. The 40mm auto version is very tall, boxy and flashy, and looks like it is 2 sizes bigger. The one legitimate con is that the lume sucks and only lasts for a few minutes. Some other very minor and nit-picky negatives I can think of are:the minute hand moves around a little when the crown is pushed back in so you have to compensate 15-30 secs when setting it, and the brushing on the top of the lugs is noticeably different from the brushing on the bracelet. The crown doesn't screw down and although 200 meters is written on the dial, I wouldn't expect this to survive even 1 meter of water. You can't expect a screw down crown for this price, but crazy as it sounds, the 40mm auto version has both a screw down crown and a very good Seiko NH35 automatic movement for $90, $55 when it's on sale. This is going to make a very good beater watch that I don't have to worry about, and looks good enough to be a primary watch if you really just want something that looks good.
I am a mechanical watch guy, so I can appreciate a good watch when I try it. This is a great watch. If you like big watches (47mm) in the submariner style, you need to buy this watch. At $100, you will not find a better watch with this quality. The movement has an awesome pedigree. It is a made-in-Japan Seiko NH35A, which is the same as the solid 4R36 that Seiko uses on its own watches. It is hand-windable and hackable, with date. I have not had the watch long enough to assess the accuracy, but after two days it seems exact. This watch has a screw-down crown, which is large, has a custom logo, and does not flop around when unscrewed. This watch has a nice scalloped bevel to the bezel. Many inexpensive watches have a poor feel to bezel. This one rotates fully with no binding, and has a nice positive feel, with 120 clicks. Unlike many bezels on my somewhat more expensive watches, this one will actually center at 12:00! The cyclops is also perfectly aligned over the date window.A nice bonus is there is a lume pip in the bezel. The lume is adequate on the hands, but only barely adequate on the hour markers. They are noticeibly different in intensity. But at this price point, you are not going to find a stunning amount of lume. Also at this price point, you are not likely to get an anti-reflective coating on the crystal, and you won't find it on this watch. At some angles under certain lighting conditions you will see multiple reflections of the shiny bits on the face, but this not a big deal. The bracelet is very solid and chunky, with solid end links (rarely seen at this price). I worry about the raised polished parts though getting scratched in time. A better design would have recessed the polished parts below the brushed elements. The clasp is nice, with a true solid steel (not stamped) expander. Note though that there is no dive suit extension - again, see the price. The dive helmet motif is nice, and repeats on the end links, face, and crown. The exhibition case back is nice, and the rotor has some nice machining and script on it. The case is nice and solid. The brushing is somewhat coarse for my liking. My biggest complaint with the design is with the engraving. The 'INVICTA' on the left edge, and 'Grand Diver' on the right, is a bit over the top. But hey, it's an Invicta; over the top is their middle name. The second hand is awesome. It's nice and long, with the lume pip and pointer reaching right up the second markers. The other end is very nice as well, with the hollow Invicta wing logo. My only other complaint, and it's a minor one, is with the amount of writing on the watch face. Take away the 'Grand Diver' and 'Water Resistant' lines and it would have been perfect.A quality watch will have branding in several key places: the face, the case back, the clasp, and the crown, plus the movement if the case back is exhibition. This watch has all of those, plus logoing on the second hand and the end links. To summarize, Invicta has hit all the right notes for a big dive watch, with no misses, and only minor quibbles about the design. Buy it and love it. You will be hard pressed to find a better 47mm automatic at this price.
