This is a nice, sturdy little tripod with a useful ball joint head. The head moves freely andeasily until locked in place with the set screw, which holds it very firmly as there’s no give at all once tightened. Tripod and head can be unscrewed and used independently if needed. There’s a fair amount of thread on each screw, so I could see some cameras or attachments needing a washer or something if they are too shallow. The base around the screw is a grippy rubber, which helps hold your instrument in place once tightened. The tripod base is rather light while the ball joint head is kind of heavy, so your adding some weight to your camera bag if you carry the full thing. However, it is very sturdy. Would be nice to have had a bubble level on top of the head but I realize that only adds to the cost and possibly undermines the sturdiness of this little tripod. The head is not fluid and smooth for video, it’s either fully loose or locked in tight, as might be expected at this price point. Overall a very useful tool for your camera bag but a bit heavy for everyday carry when the ball head is included.
This tripod works great for your cell phone. It holds up well at all angles and can be used without fully extending the legs, although that makes it a lot less stable. It did well holding up my DSLR with my standard lens. The DSLR with this lens weighs about 3.5 lbs. The tripod could hold it level without moving much after setting it to hold its position. I did find that it would fall over if a support leg was not lined up with the camera lens when moving the camera position slightly downward. Overall I was impressed that this little tripod held up as well as it did with the DSLR.This is a great lightweight and small travel tripod. Perfect for setting it up on ledges, curbs or whatnot to get your pictures taken without shake and to prevent you from getting the typical arm in the selfie.I would recommend this to anyone looking for a low-cost tripod.
The legs don't lock. They just splay (almost) all the way open. So if you put anything with any kind of weight on it, such as an MFT camera and lens...it's just kind of flops over. I wouldn't even trust a phone on it, unless you opened the tripod legs all the way. So you can't adjust the height of the tripod. But if you need it to just kind of lay flat and hold something relatively lightweight, it will work.Construction seems solid enough. It's metal. The included ball-head is of decent quality, as well...and detachable, so it can be used for other things.
